Mossberg & Company Celebrates 90 Years!

New year, new us? Well, not really but we’ve come a long way, baby. The arrival of a new year often provides opportunities to look back and reflect. This year Mossberg & Company is celebrating 90 years!

In 1930, in the throes of the Great Depression that crushed the U.S. economy and ruined lives around the world, Herman T. Mossberg decided to move from Chicago to open a printing company in South Bend, IN. His entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and rigorous work ethic were second to none and laid the foundation upon which a successful company was built.

Ninety years later, Mossberg continues to thrive and embrace the opportunities provided by a rapidly changing world.

Mr. Mossberg passed away in 1979, and Charles W. Hillman, Mr. Mossberg’s son-in-law, took over as president, CEO and treasurer. Charles guided the company through amazing growth and expansion before retiring in 1994, at which time his son, James W. Hillman, became president. While still a printing company at its heart, Mossberg under James’s leadership has expanded its array of services to include fulfillment, digital printing, e-commerce solutions, mailing, shrink sleeves for the beverage industry, and kitting/packaging/distribution of various consumer products.

Mossberg is a member of Roundtable LLC, a consortium of like-sized and like-minded companies that serve as resources for each other and work together to purchase materials more efficiently. The relationship with these companies allows us to offer services (like web printing and more elaborate finishing solutions) that we don’t provide under our roof.

Throughout all the years, Mossberg’s primary goal remains the same. It’s simple: To enhance our customers’ success by delivering world-class marketing materials to the markets they serve. We do that by listening to our customers and developing solutions that are on-time and on-budget. A lot has changed in 90 years, but we continue to build upon the incredible foundation laid by Herman Mossberg.

Here’s to another 90! We hope you have a Happy New Year!
