JOB DESCRIPTION

DIRECT REPORTS: 2nd Press Operator

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for the quality of work and efficient operation of the press. Performs preventative maintenance, and ensures the press is maintained in a clean and organized manner. Produces and approves preliminary make ready, is responsible for final pre-run inspection of the job and then supervises the running of the press.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: To meet or exceed monthly budget production projections.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING: Basic Industrial Math, Mechanical Reasoning, and Color Vision

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and requirements are essential job functions unless otherwise indicated.

 

  • Machine Operator… 90%
  1. Operation of 6-color CD or 12-color perfecting press, or 8-color perfecting press
  2. Understanding of the set-up and operation of the Cut Star roll to sheet system (12 color only)
  3. Sets up press based on information from the job ticket
  4. Understand the purpose and function of vast knowledge of CPC 24 and image control, ink temperature controls, densitometers, and spectrophotometer
  5. Monitors color density and diagnoses and corrects problems associated with controlling and maintaining appropriate color
  6. Pulls press sheets out of the press run and inspects for defects with appropriate instruments
  7. Operate Forklift

 

  • Maintenance… 10%
  1. Responsible for ensuring that the press is maintained in a clean and organized manner
  2. Ensure that “Basic Wash-up Procedures” are followed before leaving for the day
  3. Ensure that preventative maintenance is performed properly, accurately, and according to TPM schedule

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  2. High School Degree or GED
  3. Associates degree or equivalent from a two year or technical college or equivalent experience or combination of the both

 

  1. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
  2. Possess 4 years of multi-color press experience in a similar position
  3. Knowledge of ink mixing and accurate color reproduction during printing
  1. Strong understanding of the application of water based coating and Anilox/Chamber Doctor Blade systems
  2. Strong understanding of the application of UV based coating Anilox/Chamber Doctor Blade systems across a wide variety of substrates including plastics and foils (6 color only)
  3. Strong understanding of G7 methodology
  4. Strong problem solving skills on press
  5. Strong understanding of prepress and the ability to make plates if needed
  6. Must strong reading comprehension skills in order to read and understand the job ticket
  7. Strong mechanical aptitude is a must
